Typical UK cost range
£80–£500
National baseline. City-specific ranges are adjusted for local labour and access costs on the city pages below. See the full UK cost guide for the methodology and the factors that move a quote.
What the job involves
Most gutter problems are maintenance rather than repair: moss and leaves blocking the run, a failed joint seal letting water out, or brackets pulling out of rotten fascia. A gutter repair job deals with these without replacing the whole system.
The long-term fix often involves addressing the fascia or soffit behind the gutter if that’s where the failure really is.
What changes the price
- Length of gutter involved.
- Ladder vs scaffold access (most domestic gutter work uses ladders).
- Whether fascia behind the gutter needs attention.
- Time of year — autumn and post-storm work commands a premium.
Timeline: Usually same-day.

How often should gutters be cleaned?
Once a year for most UK houses, twice a year if you have overhanging trees. Blocked gutters overflow onto the fascia and wall behind, causing more expensive damage over time.
Are gutter guards worth it?
They reduce but don’t eliminate cleaning. On houses with heavy leaf drop they can save a lot of maintenance; on exposed gutters they may not be worth the install cost.
